Methanol is a vital feedstock for fuels and chemicals. Oxylus has figured out an electrochemical method to make it by converting carbon dioxide and yielding a “green” methanol that can be a “drop-in” added to existing supplies. The Yale-based startup has raised $4.5 million from investors led by Toyota Ventures to see if they can scale up economically.
